Michael Shane Stanley, 51, passed away on February 5, 2025, in Mobile, Alabama.

Shane dedicated much of his career to the transportation and maritime industries. He worked for many years at Dixie Drayage, the trucking company founded by his father. Later, he transitioned to a role with the State of Alabama Port Authority in Mobile, where he served as Assistant Harbormaster. His work reflected his deep connection to the region and its industries. In Shane's relatively short time with the Port Authority - he became a true asset to the organization and a valuable employee to the Harbormaster, finding many ways to improve and implement efficiencies in daily operations.

Beyond his professional life, Shane was a devoted fan of the Houston Rodeo and all things Texas. Shane was an enthusiastic supporter of both the Dallas Cowboys and the Auburn Tigers. You could often find Shane on his back patio - cooking something delicious on his Traeger smoker. Shane was a member of a local Mystic Society and thoroughly enjoyed Mardi Gras ball season in Mobile. His love for these pastimes brought him joy and camaraderie with those who shared his passions.

A man of faith, Shane was a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church. Shane loved his God, his family, and his country. He was happy to discuss politics and was always clear about where he stood on those matters.

Shane was preceded in death by his father, John Allen (J.A.) Stanley. Shane is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Stanley; his mother, Carol Stanley; his sister, Michelle Onderdonk (William); his brother, Jason Stanley; and his niece, Jordan Stanley and his nephew, Reid Onderdonk. He also leaves behind his stepchildren-Ashley Ann Hamby, Clarke Hamby (Naomi), Elizabeth Smith (Craig), and Sarah Kennedy (Ross)-as well as grandchildren Craig Smith III, Charles Smith, and Caroline Kennedy. In addition to his immediate family, Shane will be missed many other relatives and friends who cherished him deeply.

Serving as pall bearers are William Onderdonk, Craig Smith, Ross Kennedy, Clark Hamby, Frank Pratt, and Terry Gilbreath. Honorary pall bearer is Reid Onderdonk.

Shane's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you make a donation in Shane's name to Samaritan's Purse or the American Cancer Society. Both of these organizations were very special to Shane.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 12 PM. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
