Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home - ColumbiaMichael Udo Stephens, 49, died Thursday, January 29, 2026 at his residence in Columbia.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Mylan Coble officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.
Michael was born on March 30, 1976 in Ft. Gordon, GA to the late David Ray Stephens and the late Su Cha Chung Stephens. On July 3, 2020 he married Jennifer Stokes Stephens. He was a supervisor for MTJDC, Security with Pinewood and carried multiple Repair Planner positions, he had a deep love for vehicles. Michael was a member of several clubs including; Tennessee Paranormal Society, Common Traffic Mafia, Midnight Pretenders, Muletown Jeepers, and M6 Jeep Mafia. Michael loved collecting antiques, going to Custom Automotive to see what kind of project they could come up with. He loved his Tennessee Vols Football, and anything outdoors. He loved fixing up cars and trucks, traveling country roads and collecting Hot Wheels. Michael was a member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church, and was a licensed preacher with Universal Life. Michaels motto was to love, live, and be humble.
Survivors include his wife Jennifer Stephens; children, Ashton (Dawson) Zervas, Bo (Morgan) Stephens, Paiton Stephens, Victoria Stephens, Alexus Stephens, Makinze Stephens; a very special aunt, Judy Stephens, Brenda Uselton, Pam Stephens, Nancy Creel, Betty Bradley; brothers in law, James Stokes, Robert (Mechelle) Stokes, William (Crystal) Stokes; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his mother in law, Sherry Stokes.
Pallbearers will be Josh Stephens, John Howard, Chris Allen, Robert Ridenour, Sean Lynn, Wiley Holder, Alex Tapp, and Mark Hendrix. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Richardson, Ken Farris, Kit Peden, Eric Creel, Robert Creel, Cam Peden, Brian Bradley, Jake Stephens, Jon Stephens, and Brent Watts.
