Robert Eddlemon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Johnson-Williams Funeral Home on Jan. 29, 2026.
Robert DeWitt Eddlemon, 83, of Trimble, Tennessee died on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at his residence in Trimble, Tennessee.
Born Friday, December 11, 1942, in Gibson County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Fred Eddlemon and the late Dora Gable Eddlemon.

Robert married the love of his life, Jan Dotson Eddlemon, on July 3, 1963, and together they shared many happy and blessed years until her passing on August 8, 2020. Their life together was filled with laughter, music, good food, and a deep devotion to family.

He was a retired employee of Todd's Uniform Service and later served the Obion County School System as a school bus driver for many years, a job he truly enjoyed because it allowed him to be around children and brighten their days.

Family gatherings were among Robert's greatest joys. He loved playing cards and checkers with family, and Saturday mornings were reserved for watching wrestling-always accompanied by Jan's famous Lipton onion soup dip and crackers. Jan was an excellent cook, and Robert never missed a chance to brag that anything she made was delicious.

Robert had a gift for conversation and a genuine love for people. No matter who you were or where you came from, he made you feel valued and special. His friendly spirit and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He will always be remembered for his love of music. Robert could play the guitar, organ, and piano, and he loved to sing. He encouraged his family to take an interest in music, patiently teaching and inspiring them, often saying with a smile, "Everyone I taught ended up a better musician than me."

Funeral services for Mr. Eddlemon will be help at 2:30 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Dr. Rick Isbell. Interment will be in Mason Hall Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Eddlemon will be held on Saturday from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He is survived by one daughter, Renea Cupples (Dennis) of Jackson, Tennessee; one son, Tony Eddlemon (Jackie) of Hornbeak, Tennessee and he was "Granddaddy" to his four grandchildren, Brandon Watson (Heather), Summer Turnbo (Colton) of Columbia, Tennessee, Haley Eddlemon(Tamarius) of Union City, Tennessee and Brittany Nye (Patrick) of Obion, Tennessee and Ayden Watson, Macy Watson, Sydnee Watson, Reagen Ivester, Eli Ivester, Peyton Fisk and soon to join the family in February, Wrenley Jade Turnbo.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jan Dotson Eddlemon, one sister, Betty Flowers and one brother, Arthur Eddlemon.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be directed to Trimble First Baptist Church, 139 East Mitchell Street, Trimble, Tennessee 38259.
