Mike was born on March 10, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, living here all 72 years of his life. His growing up years were filled with hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors with friends and family. His most precious memories revolved around visits and innumerable good times with his parents and sisters, cousins, and his beloved grandparents.

He was a Regis High School graduate and proud that his daughter attended Regis Middle School. His granddaughter now attends Regis which brought a smile to his face this fall. He was a longtime member of St. Matthew Catholic Church.

Mike and his wife Connie were married one week shy of 42 years. Mike's steadfast love and trustworthiness were hallmarks of their marriage. Some of their greatest joys and best times were after Laura was born. Her dad was her number one supporter, protector, and a model for living life with purpose and integrity.

He was kind to all people and animals that crossed his path on his daily walks along the trails. Friends, family, and neighbors were all greeted warmly and enjoyed both Mike's good humor and ability to listen well. He was generous, dependable, and helpful.

His grandchildren, Briella and Wyatt were the source of much joy, regardless of his health at the time. He reveled in being their Deda, whether outside gardening, playing, talking and laughing, or sharing special treats when together.
Mike is survived by his wife Connie, daughter Laura (Zach), grandchildren Briella and Wyatt; sisters Deb and Linda (Mike); nieces Jennifer, Theresa (Matt), Christine (Jennifer), and nephew Jacob (Sam); great nieces and nephews Kaleb (Christina), Morgan, and Katie, and many cousins he stayed close to over the years.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents Charles & Bessie Rudzinski, and Leonard & Mary Stusak, and his parents Jake & Bess Stusak.

Mike was devoted to caring for others, sharing both his time and resources. In lieu of flowers, please give generously in Mike's memory. Smile at strangers, live in gratitude and helpfulness for all the family around you.
