Michael Christopher “Chris” Tabakin, 45, of Exton, PA passed away suddenly on October 23, 2024.
Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1979, he was the beloved son of Michael Peter and Joy (née Aderhold) Tabakin.
Chris was a graduate of Delaware County Christian School, West Chester University, where he earned his BA in Special Education and Eastern University, where he earned his MA in Non-Profit Administration.
After earning his Bachelor’s degree, Michael went to work for Melmark as Director of Quality Assurance. Following a 15 year career at Melmark, he joined Access Services, another organization dedicated to helping people with disabilities, where he served as the Corporate Compliance Officer. He most recently worked as the Associate Director of Policy & Government Relations for Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disability (PAR).
He was very dedicated to helping those with both physical and intellectual disabilities and founded and was President and CEO of iHi International, a non-profit organization dedicated to identifying needs and developing solutions to improve the lives of vulnerable people worldwide who he liked to refer to as VIPs.
Chris attended Providence Church of West Chester, served on the West Chester School Board and was a past member of the Exton Chamber of Commerce.
In his spare time he enjoyed mountain biking and playing with his English Bulldog, Jamilla, which means “beautiful” in Arabic. During his high school years he was devoted to hockey, soccer and track, where he broke several long standing school track records.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:00-11:30 AM Saturday, November 2, 2024 and to his Funeral Service 11:30 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf, cccd.org.
