Michael Taflinger

1955 - 2024

LIMA -- Michael Jude "Mike" Taflinger, age 68, passed this life into the next at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 1, 2024, at Lima Memorial Health System.

Mike was born May 29, 1955, in Lima, OH, to the late William J. and Rosemary (Promen) Taflinger. On October 6, 1989, he married Karen Louise (Holmes) Taflinger.

Mike was a 1974 graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School and proudly served in the United States Army. He retired from Midwest Plastics where he worked as a truck driver. Mike was a proud husband, dad and grandpa who loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Karen Louise Taflinger of Lima; five children, Philip J. (Shawn) Tafllinger of Lima, Heidi A. Taflinger of Urbana, Michael D. (Lauren) Meihls of Katy, TX, Scott Michael (Erin) Taflinger of Lima, OH, and Debra L. (Travis Cotterman) Wireman of Lima; eight grandchildren, Isaac Taflinger, Haley Taflinger, Cassidy Taflinger, Madison Wireman, Camryn Wireman, Travis "TJ" Cotterman, Jr., Byron Cotterman, Tyler Cotterman; sister, Liesl Taflinger of Arlington; three sisters-in-law, Nancy Taflinger of Elida, Judy Taflinger of Lima, and Rebecca "Becky" Taflinger of Lima; three brothers-in-law, Ken (Stacy) Barker of Lima, Troy (Kimberly) Holmes of Lakewood, WA, and Richard (Monique) Holmes of Wapakoneta.

Mike had many nieces and nephews, all of whom he enjoyed to be around. He also had many lifelong friends. Mike's laughter, companionship, and love for life will be cherished and missed by many and remembered fondly.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Skylar Tarr; two sisters, Melinda Taflinger, and Terri Barker; three brothers, William M. Taflinger, Jim Taflilnger, and Tom Taflinger; in-laws, Dave and Marcia Holmes; sister-in-law, Nancy Holmes; and two nephews, Geoff Taflinger, and John Barker.

Funeral Services will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. Father John McLoughlin will officiate the service. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, prior to the service at the funeral home.
