Michael Joseph Talbot, "Mikey T", (1946 - 2024) of Raleigh, NC, passed away on November 2, 2024.
Mike was born in Newark, New Jersey to Helen Veronica Talbot (Nee Kelly) and Joseph Francis Talbot and grew up in Belleville. After graduating Essex Catholic High School, he was drafted to the United States Army. He served as a Specialist E4, from 1966-1968. He dedicated his life to serving the community as a Fire Captain in East Orange, N.J. for 20 years. He also served two terms as President of The East Orange Fire Officers Association. In addition, he started and ran his own business as a licensed electrician, driving around town in the blue van everyone knew, Talbot Electric. He resided in Belleville for most of his life, eventually moving to NC to be with his children and grandchildren in 2013.
Mike will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all those who knew and loved him. Mike had an infectious laugh and sense of humor. He left an impression on most he met with his nicknames, sayings and movie quotes. He was an avid consumer of news, passionate about politics (even voted early in this current election), loved his country, and enjoyed listening to 50's and 60's music and singing patriotic songs. He loved playing pool and games of all kinds (especially dominos) and truly enjoyed gambling on everything. His bigger than life, one of a kind memory will live on in our hearts forever.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Along with his wife, Joyce (Nee Grande), he was the loving father of Chris (Susan Farah), Kelly (Anthony Parzanese), Megan (Anthony Rivera), and is now reunited with his youngest son Michael John, who was taken from us way too soon. Dedicated grandpa to 9 beautiful grandchildren: Tyler Talbot, Amanda Talbot Antross, (Micah Antross), Madison Parzanese, Michael Talbot, Chelsea Parzanese, Anthony Rivera, Lyssa Talbot, Brandon Rivera and Penelope Rivera. He is survived by his brothers Arthur (Louise) and Gregory (Dianne) Talbot and brother-in-law, John Grande (Traudy) and many nieces and nephews.
Mike's family is having a private viewing and cremation services in North Carolina. They will then honor his lifetime in New Jersey by returning him home to rest with his beloved son.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Tuesday, November 26th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 27th at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 28 Brookline Ave., Nutley with interment to follow at Glendale Cemetery, 28 Hoover Ave., Bloomfield.
