Orr Gray Gish Funeral HomeFuneral service for Michael Dwaine Tatum, age 68, of Lancaster, California, formerly of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Church of the Living God, 400 N. 5th Street, Frederick, Oklahoma.
Mr. Tatum passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, in Los Angeles, California. Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home of Frederick, Oklahoma.
He was born April 25,1957, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Gladys Tatum and Izah Drake McDaniel. He was raised by his stepfather Clarence Williams Jr. who was a very important person in his life. He attended Frederick schools and later joined the United States Army, where he served honorably for two years. Once out of the Army, he moved to California, where he met Pamela Curry and married in 1979. Michael worked sand blasting before he ventured off working with cable. Michael worked for King Cable Company for seven years and then Charter Cable for eight years. He started his own business named Creative Communication and operated it until his retirement in 2025. He was a long-time faithful member of New Testament Worship Center, where he was active with various auxiliaries: Pastor Assistant, Brotherhood Leader and Sunday School Superintendent. His passion was the love for God and family. Oh, please don’t forget his dogs! Michael will truly be missed!
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife: Pamela Curry; stepson: Malik Tatum of Palmdale, California; stepfather: Clarence Williams III of Frederick, Oklahoma; two sisters: Tevedous Hurd of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Tammerler Harris-Campbell (Benny) of Frederick, Oklahoma; aunts: Mae Jackson (Jack) and Lolly F. Williams (Charles), both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Cynthia Crowley (Roy Sr.), and Cherylyn Preston of New Orleans Louisiana; uncles: Hillard Williams (Alice) also of New Orleans, Louisiana; sister-in-law: Diane Tatum of Frederick, Oklahoma; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents: Gladys Williams and Izah McDaniel; his son: James Michael Tatum; grandparents: Rachel McDaniel, Ellender and Clarence Williams Sr.; brothers: Little Clarence Williams III, Gernardo, Troy, and Dexter Tatum; sisters: Devoria Morrison and Linda McDaniel; brother-in-law: Freddy Hurd; aunts: Viriginia Buckner, Essie Rockuemore, Willie Mae Tatum, Joycelynd Patterson, and Lillie Mae Lee; uncles: James Tatum, Roy McDaniel, Roosevelt Gildon, Jack Perry, Paul McDaniel Jr., Walter Williams, Ronnie Williams, Ed Perry, Clarence Perry, and James Perry.
