Michael Thoene age 60 of rural George, Iowa died Friday, July 26, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
Michael Joseph Thoene was born October 14, 1963, the son of Michael Sr. and Ruth (Hoover) Thoene in Torrence, California. He spent his childhood years in California.
Mike was united in marriage to Monica Plummer in Idaho and to this union two children were born, Matthew and Marissa. They lived in Idaho and Arizona, before moving to Iowa. They later divorced.
On June 7, 2013, Mike was united in marriage to Danae Weier in Calumet, Iowa. They enjoyed many road trips together. Mike was very encouraging to Danae and enjoyed all the time he spent with her. Mike worked as a machinist at Double H Manufacturing for 16 years. He really enjoyed his Hope Haven Clients he mentored there throughout the years.
Mike enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, going to the casino, putting on fireworks shows for his grandkids, and loved any time he got to spend with his family and grandkids. Mike overcame many obstacles in his life, and was always smiling. When he got his diagnosis, he was not going down without a fight. He was a good man.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 11 years, Danae; children, Matthew (Maggie) Thoene of Omaha, NE, Marissa Thoene of Sioux City, IA, Patrick and Breanna Roethler of Ft. Dodge, IA, Nicholas and Katie Weier of Primghar, IA, Steven and Miranda Wetrich of Sanborn, IA, Sean and Brittany Wetrich of Calumet, IA, Andrew and Briana Wetrich of Sioux Rapids, IA, and Christopher and Trinity Wetrich of Sioux Falls, SD; 18 grandchildren; 1, soon to be 2 great grandchildren; siblings, Mark and Deb Thoene of South Sioux City, NE, Terri Sanderson (Robert Richardson) of Aurora, CO, Andrea and Mitch Meyer of Sioux City, IA, Ruthey and Jon Moravec of Sioux City, IA; sisters-in-law, Tina (Todd) Sundt of Cherokee, IA, Kelly Cluphf of Hartley, IA; brothers-in-law, Jim (Jodi) Weier of Perry, IA, Jeff Williamson of Alpha, MN; mothers-in-law, Diane Igou of Hartley, IA and Gail Weier of Alpha, MN; along with many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Ruth; and sister, Lynn.
