Michael Eugene Tibbs, 51, of Parkersburg passed away at his residence July 23, 2025. He was born December 28, 1973 in Parkersburg, a son of Judy Davis Tibbs of Parkersburg and Mike Tibbs of Vienna.
Michael graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1992, where he was an all-state McDonald All-American basketball player. He played basketball for West Virginia University, Pasco-Hernando University in Tampa, FL and Brewton-Parker University in Georgia. He coached the Ramblers football team of Parkersburg to a championship and coached AAU travel basketball.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons; Javien and Tayjaun Tibbs both of Parkersburg; one sister, April Harris of Charleston; two nieces, Javai Harris and Jaedyn Harris of Charleston; one nephew, Jeffrey Harris of Charleston; one great-nephew, Zaeden Harris of Charleston and Aunt Rachel and Uncle Brian Tibbs of Belpre, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jeffrey Harris; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Joan Davis and paternal grandparents, Gene and Virginia Tibbs.
A celebration of life service for Michael is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Parkersburg.
