Michael J. Timbers

Michael J. Timbers, 84, of Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away on January 22, 2026, surrounded by family.

Mike was born on December 30, 1941, in Evanston, Illinois, graduated from Millburn High School in New Jersey, and obtained a bachelor's degree in commerce with honors from the University of Virginia. While at UVA, Mike played on the golf team and was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, T.I.L.K.A., and the Raven Society. Following graduation, he served on active duty as a U.S. Army officer for two years and went on to earn an MBA with honors from New York University.

Throughout his career, Mike positively impacted and touched the lives of many through his leadership positions in the public and private sectors, including Commissioner and CEO of the Federal Supply Service of the U.S. General Services Administration early in his career and Chairman and CEO of IHS Group, a leading international information publisher, prior to retirement.

Mike was known for his lifelong passion for golf, appreciation of wine, sense of humor, enthusiasm for travel, enjoyment of sports, generosity toward friends, and deep love of family.

Mike is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dee; his children, Mike Timbers Jr., Ken (Vicky) Timbers, and Suzanne (Brad) Londer; his grandchildren, who lovingly called him Pops, Will (Meg Dattani) Timbers, Betsy Timbers, Chrissie (Brandon) Stetler, Annie Timbers, and Natalia Londer; and his great-grandchild Maya Timbers.

The family will hold a private interment ceremony with military honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado at a later date.
