Michael Douglas Tong, 57, of Lacey, Washington, passed away from cardiopulmonary arrest on November 9, 2025, one day shy of his 58th birthday. Mike was born on November 10, 1967, in San Diego, California, to John and Eileen Tong, joining his siblings John, Bill, Catherine, and Cindy. When he was three, the family relocated to Lacey, Washington, where Mike spent the majority of his life. Mike attended Mountain View Elementary School, Chinook Middle School, and North Thurston High School. He remained lifelong friends with many of his elementary school classmates, a testament to his kind, fun, and engaging personality. Mike married Kimberley Huppert on March 3, 1995, and they welcomed a son, Austin. Kimberley preceded Mike in death in January 1999. Mike met Debra Fabritius, the "girl next door," in August of 2000, and they married in February 2002. They welcomed two more sons, Erich and James. Mike had many jobs in his youth, from working at Skipper's to masonry to sign-making to commercial fishing. In 1995, he settled into a commercial construction career as a union laborer, retiring in 2021. Mike enjoyed being out in the woods, camping, hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed watching football, catching up with friends, laughing, and telling stories. His brother, Bill, says he liked to be the center of attention, "like all us Tongs." Mike also enjoyed grilling and cooking and would spend hours perfecting dishes and trying new recipes. Mike is survived by his wife of 23 years, Debra; his three sons: Austin, Erich, and James; brother, William Tong; and sister, Catherine Brannam. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eileen Tong; wife, Kimberley Huppert; sister, Cinnamon (Cindy) Harp; and brother, John D. Tong. No service is scheduled at this time.
