Michael Trowbridge, 48, Burlington, ND, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024, at the University of Minnesota Hospital.
Michael Trowbridge was born December 25, 1975, the son of Kenneth and Marvelle (Steen) Trowbridge in Williston. He was raised and educated in Williston where he made many lifelong friends. While in high school he excelled in sports, making the All-State Team in football. He graduated from Williston High School in 1994.
Following graduation, he attended Williston State College. While in college he met his wife, Tamra Ledahl. They married on June 27, 1997. They made their home in in the Brainerd Lakes area in Minnesota from 1998 until 2013 when they returned to North Dakota and settled in Burlington.
Mike worked as a manager for Hirshfield's Paint for 20 years. He loved his job and had the reputation of the "Extra Mile Guy." He considered his coworkers and customers as his extended family and many of them thought the same of him. He made everyone feel like family every time they walked into the store.
Mike's biggest loves were God and family. He gave generously, continuously, and selflessly. His answer when called upon for anything big, little, and in between was a near universal, "YES." He didn't' say he was going to, he did. Mike had a smile that made you happy and a hug that made you feel safe and loved. He was free with those hugs and usually included "I love you."
Mike was the dad everyone wanted and many aspired to be. For many of the foster children in his home he was the first and sometimes only father figure they had.
Faith was a major part of Mike and his family's life. He demonstrated his faith by how he lived his life. He was an incredible example of how to treat others with grace and compassion.
He was both a very competitive person and someone who loved to laugh. He loved playing games with his family and friends. He taught his children how to cheat at Monopoly and was the heart of the annual, "Un-extreme Events" Competition.
His loving family includes: wife of 26 years, children, Tayler Myers, Madison Meester, Ellie Trowbridge, James Trowbridge, Rylan Trowbridge, Maverick Trowbridge, Dashel Trowbridge, "K" – foster son; grandchildren, Thomas Michael Meester and grandchild due in August; 100 + foster children that Mike would always consider his; parents, Kenneth Trowbridge and Marvelle Stancel; siblings, Josh Trowbridge, Adam Trowbridge, Melissa Hoffart, Sheila Gieske, Lisa Cotton, Melanie Bergstrom, Ben Trowbridge, Courtney Welty, Ross Trowbridge, Alex Trowbridge.
Funeral: Monday, February 26, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Journey Church, Minot.
Interment: Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Steen Family Cemetery, Williston, ND.
