Michael Wayne Valentine, 62, of Fannett, passed away peacefully at his sister's home surrounded by his family on Friday, February 10, 2023. Mike was born in Pontiac, Illinois, on April 21, 1960, to Wayne and Joan (Conkle) Valentine. He graduated from Nederland High School in 1978 and has been a Fannett resident for over 40 years. Mike attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fannett.
Mike was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on equipment. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and great uncle. He loved his nieces and nephews more than anything. They were his pride and joy.
Mike was co-owner of Wayne and Mike's Upholstery for many years working alongside his dad. He joined the IBEW 479 apprenticeship school and worked for several years as a journeyman electrician. He was a truck owner and operator before he retired.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Joan Valentine.
Survivors include his sister, Pam Stokes and husband, Walter, of Hamshire, Texas; 3 nieces, Karrie Talbott and husband, Shane, of Edgewood, Texas; Kandace Selman and husband, Dean, of Hamshire, Texas; and Kelli Stokes of Galveston, Texas; 1 nephew, Christopher Stokes and wife, Emily, of Starkville, Mississippi; 6 great-nieces and nephews and 1 great-nephew on the way.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the medical team at MD Anderson Cancer Center and the hospice caregivers for taking such great care of him.
A Rosary for Mr. Valentine will be recited at 5:00 p.m., with a gathering of his family and friends to follow until 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2023, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Road, Fannett. His interment will follow at Broussard Cemetery, Hamshire.
