Obituary published on Legacy.com by Broussard's Mortuary - Major Drive on Mar. 13, 2026.
Joseph Malcolm Dockens, 75, of Lumberton, died Wednesday, March 11, 2026. He was born to Louise Elizabeth Dockens on July 9, 1950, in Houston, Texas.

Survivors include Linda Dockens of Lumberton; children, Angela Cyr of Lumberton and Kyle Dockens of Kountze; grandchildren, Justin Cyr and his wife, Morgan, Jacob Bloodworth, Kaitlyn Bloodworth, and Bryson Dockens; and great-grandchildren, Ryan Cyr and Riley Cyr. Joseph was beloved and a favorite of all his nieces and nephews, Lori Courts and her husband, Josh, Richard Wilson, Kristen Grady, Josh Marceaux, and many great-nieces and nephews; Mr. Dockens was admired and loved by his in-laws, Denise Marceaux and her husband, Greg, and Carol Allen.

Joseph was a proud military veteran, serving his country in the United States Army. Mr. Dockens also served his community as a board member of the Jasper County Tax Office. He was married to the love of his life, Linda, for fifty-six years. Joseph was very involved with his family and raised all his children and grandchildren. His loved ones describe him as the smartest man they knew, with Joseph teaching himself how to be an architect and master homebuilder. Joseph spent much of his time traveling the world with his wife and family. After retiring from Exxon, Joseph fully embraced the "lake life". Mr. Dockens greatly enjoyed being in the outdoors, especially if it was fly fishing or snow skiing. Joseph had a deep love for adventure and was always planning the next one.

He is preceded in death by his mother, son, Ryan Dockens, and great-nephew, Ricky Vasquez.

Cremation arrangements for Mr. Dockens were handled through Broussard's Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
