Michael Steven Vana was born on March 29, 1977, in Missouri Valley, Iowa to Don and Judy (Jordan) Vana. He grew up in the Logan area and graduated from Logan High School with the class of 1995. After graduation he worked with Don for a short time and then attended Lineman School at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa. He started working at Harrison County REC in 1998. Mike married Danyel Sigler on September 11, 2000. The couple lived in Logan then purchased a farm near town. Mike started out as a lineman at the REC then became the Assistant Operations Manager.

Mike loved the land. He loved the farm and to push dirt. He enjoyed fishing and supporting his kids in their sports. When the kids were younger, he helped coach them. Mike’s nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart. Most of all, he loved spending time with close friends and family and always enjoyed pulling pranks and joking with those around him.

Mike died on Friday, November 1, 2024, due to injuries caused by a farm accident at the age of 47 years, seven months and three days.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Vana. He is survived by his wife, Danyel Vana of Logan; children, Lucas, Wesley, Natalie and Jillian Vana; father, Don Vana of Logan; siblings, Jenny Vana of Omaha, Nebraska, Jeff Vana and his wife Melissa of Logan and Kate Vana of Logan; parents-in-law, Dave and Shirley Sigler of Logan; sister-in-law, April and her husband Shane Wacker of Council Bluffs, Iowa; his nieces and nephews, Simon, Chuck, Gena, Hadley, Jake, Tyler, Mallorie, Addi, Ashtah and Ryan; and many other relatives and friends.
