Michael Edward Vuich, known to all as Mike, passed away on September 23, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. He was 70 years old.
Mike was born on January 11, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, to Mike and Helen Vuich. He grew up with his siblings Ron (Janet), Bobby, and Linda (Tom) Burt, forming lifelong bonds of family, loyalty, and love.
On September 10, 1977, Mike married the love of his life, Tammie (Fagg). Their 48-year marriage was built on kindness, humor, and devotion. Together, they raised two children, Jennifer and Michael (Melissa), who will never forget their father's steady encouragement, honesty, and support. Mike was a proud grandfather to Michael and Chloe, who brought him immense joy.
The first in his family to attend college, Mike became a mechanical engineer and a dedicated supporter of the University of Utah. He strongly believed in the power of education and encouraged those around him to pursue their goals with diligence and integrity.
A man of many passions, Mike loved woodworking, hockey, hunting, fishing, gardening, and barbecuing. Sundays were often spent gathered with family for breakfast, where lively conversations and laughter filled the room. He lived by the motto, "Work to live, don't live to work," and reminded those around him that people are always more important than things.
Mike will be remembered as kind, helpful, stubborn in the best of ways, and deeply honest. His life was a testament to the values he lived by: helping others, celebrating others' successes, and knowing that true happiness comes from love, not material things. In fact, it was while helping strangers-when Tammie's car broke down-that he met the woman who would become his wife.
Mike is survived by his wife, Tammie; his children, Jennifer and Michael (Melissa); his grandchildren, Michael and Chloe; and his siblings, Ron (Janet), Bobby, and Linda (Tom) Burt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Helen; parents-in-law, Thomas and Georgia Fagg; his sisters-in-law, Monica Vuich and Vickie Letcher; and his brother-in-law, Henny Bakker.
A celebration of Mike's life will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 12 to 3 p.m. at The Day Dairy Barn, 1166 E Pioneer Rd, Draper, UT 84020. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
