Michael Wagner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Auble Funeral Home - Orrville on Jan. 19, 2026.
Michael C. "Mike" Wagner, age 72, of Orrville, died Friday, January 16, 2026, at Ohio's Hospice LifeCare in Wooster, following a long period of declining health.
Mike was born on December 31, 1953, in Orrville, to the late William and Wanda (Rose) Wagner and was a 1972 graduate of Orrville High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era. Mike was assigned to the White House Communications Agency and was stationed in Washington, D.C., where he served under the administrations of Presidents Nixon, Ford, and Carter.
On February 8, 1975, he married the love of his life, Dawn Amstutz, in Orrville, and they shared over 50 years of marriage together. Dawn survives.
Mike dedicated his professional life to serving others. He worked for the Massillon City Fire Department as a Firefighter/Paramedic, retiring in 2008 as a Captain after 27 years of distinguished service. In addition, he worked "part-time" for 20 years as a paramedic with Stark Ambulance, further reflecting his deep commitment to public safety and emergency care.
He was a faithful member of Living Water Community Church, where he served on the medical and security team. Mike enjoyed fishing, oldies music, television; and valued staying in touch with friends. Above all else, Mike's greatest joy was his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy, and he rarely missed an opportunity to attend their events and cheer them on.
In addition to his wife, Dawn, Mike is survived by his son, Andy Wagner of Charlotte, North Carolina; his daughter, Angie (Joel) Reeder-Rogers of Dalton; two beloved grandchildren, Bella and Colton Reeder of Dalton; his sister, Kaylyn Monheim of Orrville; and his brother, Larry (Lynne) Wagner of Orrville.
Friends may call Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Living Water Community Church, 200 N. Kurzen Road, Dalton. Burial will take place prior to the service at 10:15 a.m. at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, where military honors will be observed. A procession to the cemetery will depart from Auble Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio's Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, OH 44691, or at ohioshospice.org.
