Michael "Mike" Raymond Walker passed away at Serene Gardens Living in Imlay City, MI on October 11, 2025, at the age of 84 years old. Born to Timothy and Edith Walker on November 6, 1940, Mike grew up surrounded by family, which was when he was happiest. He married Virginia May (Waltz) on May 21, 1960, and the two had five children together, as well as caring for many foster children over the years. He worked for BASF in Detroit (formerly Cook Paint) before retiring after 28 years. He enjoyed golfing and bowling, and he loved spending time outdoors, sharing his appreciation of nature with the younger generations by becoming a Cub Scout Leader. But most of all, Mike loved working with his hands and helping others. He could build just about anything he set his mind to. If he couldn't fix it, it was time to cut your losses and move on, because it just could not be fixed.
Mike will be missed by those he leaves behind, including his wife of 65 years, Virginia; children James Green, Lori (Paul) Chrysler, and Richard (Bettina) Walker; siblings Thomas Walker, Judith (Dennis) McKenzie, and Charlotte Edgley; as well as 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. But he will be reunited with those who he loved and lost before, including his children Michael and Donald Walker; his parents Timothy and Edith Walker; and his siblings Gene, Timothy, James, Lawrence, and Joan.
Per the family's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors and Mike's ashes will be spread in his daughter's gardens so that he can continue to be surrounded by the family and the nature that he loved. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncrest Auxiliary in Lapeer, MI.
