On Monday, December 15, 2025, Michael Eugene Waycaster, 80, of Marion, passed away at his residence with his loving family by his side.
A native of McDowell County, he was born December 13, 1945 to the late Burley Eugene Waycaster and Daisy Irene McEntire Waycaster. A brother, Alvin Waycaster, also preceded him in death.
Mike dedicated himself to his work, proudly founding Western Carolina Stone over fifty years ago. His entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence not only contributed to the success of his business but also earned him the respect of many in the community. Known for his strong work ethic, he embodied the values of perseverance and dedication that guided him in every aspect of his life.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Mike served his country with honor, further demonstrating his commitment to duty and service. As a devoted member of Clinchfield Baptist Church, Mike cherished his relationship with the Lord. His faith was the guiding force in his life that influenced his interactions with others.
Beyond his professional and spiritual commitments, Mike took great joy in his hobbies. He had a passion for working on old cars. A cherished grandfather, he delighted in spending time with his grandchildren, treasuring those moments shared in laughter and love. Mike also enjoyed farming and tending to his yard, finding peace in the beauty of nature and in the fruits of his labor.
Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 58 years, Linda Seagle Waycaster; two children, Scott Waycaster (Nicole) and Kristi Waycaster Biddix (Jimmy); five grandchildren, Maddison Waycaster Noyes (Rob), Michael Wall (Brianna), Mckenzie Waycaster (Avery McFalls), Morgan Waycaster (Jackson Fender), and Miranda Wall; three great-grandchildren, Jackman, Blanton, and Braylee; and one brother, David Waycaster (Pat).
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Clinchfield Baptist Church. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Terry Roach, will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park with military honors rendered by the United States Navy.
