Linda Jones Waycaster, age 77, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in her beloved hometown of Asheville North Carolina. Born on August 4, 1948, to James Paul Jones and Nellie Irene Butler Jones, Linda was a cherished member of the community and a longtime member of Erwin Hills Baptist Church.
Linda was loved and deeply admired for her passion for baking cakes and her joy in flower gardening, activities that brought her immense happiness and allowed her to share love through her creations. Above all, she treasured her family, often speaking of them with pride and affection.
She is survived by her son, Mark Waycaster and his wife Hidemi; her grandson, Caleb Waycaster and his wife Mya; as well as her great-grandchildren, Salem and Scarlet. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Doris Ann Haney; nephew, Stevie Holcombealong with many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will remember her warmth and kindness.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nellie; and her siblings: Juanita Holcombe, Natalie Meece, Shelby Stines, Martin Jones, and Cecil Jones.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the visitation, which will take place on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM at Erwin Hills Baptist Church, located at 281 New Leicester Highway, Asheville, NC 28806. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at the same venue, beginning at 1:30 PM, with Pastor Andy McDevitt officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Linda Jones Waycaster's life was a testament to love, family, and community. She will be missed dearly but her memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
