Michael J. Weinreis, age 80, a Grafton resident, formerly of Manitowoc, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee. Mike was born April 2, 1945, in Manitowoc, to the late Alex and Alvera (Dohr) Weinreis. He attended schools in Hilbert and graduated from Hilbert High School in 1963. Mike married Ruth Ann Weinreis and together they had two children, Debbie and Lisa. Ruth Ann preceded him in death on October 20, 2003. Mike had worked as an accountant at Formrite and had also been employed at the Journal Sentinel. He loved working with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization as a Big Brother. Michael was an avid sports fan – especially football, basketball, baseball, and hockey. He also played his fair share of basketball and baseball. Mike enjoyed a good game of sheepshead and a Fish Fry on a Friday. If he was lounging at home, you'd likely find him watching the stock market on TV. Above everything, Mike loved his family and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events. Mike is survived by his two daughters: Debbie (Dave) Bunnell and Lisa (Carl) Linzmeier; special friend: Nancy Jayne; grandchildren: Stephanie Renard (Travis Renard), Jeff (Holly) Bunnell, Brandon Bunnell, Andrew Linzmeier (Lindsey); great-grandchildren: Ashton Bunnell, Xander Renard, Lilith Renard, Taylor Bunnell, Peighton Bunnell, and Braylon Bunnell; sister: Joanne Balthazor; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Alex and Alvera Weinreis; the mother of his children: Ruth Ann Weinreis; and brother-in-law: Larry Balthazor. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo, 1121 N. 14 Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Doug LeCaptain. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 N.
