Wilson –"See you Later" services for Mr. Michael Keith Whatley, 19, of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday August 31, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Wilson with Rev. Jason Williams officiating and Zane Gray assisting. Interment will follow at the Hewitt Cemetery next to his grandfather, Jake Whatley. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
Michael was born Jan. 6, 2004, at Ardmore to Bradley Keith Whatley and Frankie Ruth Lawson. He tragically departed from this life due to a vehicle accident, Saturday morning August 26, 2023, south of Wilson near the Love and Carter County Line.
Michael was raised in Wilson loving to show pigs and be occupied in the Wilson FFA. He also loved sports particularly running Cross Country and Football. Michael graduated from Wilson High School Class of 2022 and was working at Keeton Plumbing as an apprentice plumber. Before becoming full time at Keeton he had worked during the summers.
Michael appreciated people and being with others. He had just lately become social and was loving every moment spent with his friends. He always appreciated showing pigs, especially Duroc and Cross Pigs. When he was a kid, he attended church at the Rexroat Baptist Church. He liked to lift weights, be with his friends, and was wild at heart, but good as gold.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jessica Miller and his grandfathers, Jake Whatley and Ronnie Stearns.
Survivors include his mother, Frankie Lawson; Father Brad Whatley; brothers, Cody Welch and Daniel Whatley; grandparents, Jim Lawson, Evelyn Garrison, Dottie Stearns and Mildred Whatley; special Aunt and Uncle, Jennifer and Jeff Stearns; special cousin, Greg Whatley and wife Kelly; also, a very special friend who was like a brother, Riley Pierce; numerous other family and friends.
Casket Bearers are Cody Welch, Daniel Whatley, Riley Pierce, Randy Chapman, Stanley Newby and Marcus Morton.
Honorary Bearers will be the members of the Wilson High School Class of 2022 and the staff of Keeton Plumbing.
Family visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

I first met Michael at the Tulsa State fair when we were both showing pigs. He was talking to my mom and grandma before he and I finally decided to talk to each other. Then after we both showed, we went and rode rides together!
