Born on May 12, 1960, in Camden, New Jersey, he was the son of the late James L. and Mary (Krier) Whitfield. Michael owned and operated Heatzon Plumbing & Heating before transitioning to a maintenance mechanic role at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale.
He is survived by his two sons: James M. Whitfield of White Mills and Joshua G. Whitfield, along with his wife Bonnie, of Macedon, NY. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Rayshaun, Alexis, Leila, and Talia Whitfield; his siblings James, Richard, and Steven Whitfield, Darlene Barr, and Marianne Linka, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Domanski.
He will be fondly remembered.
Private cremation services were conducted at Lake Region Crematory in Lake Ariel.
