Michael Willis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hall Funeral Homes & Cremation Services - Waldoboro on Feb. 2, 2026.
Michael S. Willis, 79, of Washington, passed away at his home on January 25, 2026.

He was born on May 20, 1946, in Rockland, Maine, the son of Walter and Gloria (Bridges) Willis. Michael earned his GED while stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey, and later received an honorary high school diploma from South Liberty Baptist Academy.

Michael proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1968, including tours in Korea and Vietnam. For his bravery and dedicated service, he was awarded the Silver Star, the Purple Heart, and several other service medals. Following his honorable discharge, he worked as a carpenter and laborer, trades in which he took great pride and skill.

In his free time, Michael found joy in woodworking, gardening, and camping, especially when shared with his beloved wife, Dianna. Together, they were devoted members of South Liberty Baptist Church, where their faith and fellowship were an important part of their lives. Dianna preceded him in death just seven months ago, and Michael greatly missed her.

He is survived by his loyal Jack Russell Terrier, Tippy, who will dearly miss both Michael and Dianna.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 1:00PM at the Marr Cemetery on Razorville Road in Washington.

Michael will be remembered for his service, his craftsmanship, and his steadfast devotion to faith, family, and country.
