Mike was a great friend when I was in high school and we played basketball at YMCA and often worked out together. He was tireless and always dependable. He used to do 1000 sit-ups a day in high school, jumped rope continuously and was always trying to better himself. I remember him tell a story of a basketball game in high school where he went up to shoot right before half time in a game and his coach Davis yelled his name when he went up to shoot and you could hear it throughout the entire gym as he didn´t want him to take the shot. The yelling effected his shot and he missed. He went into the locker room at halftime and hid so he wouldn´t get yelled at some more. Mike used to tell that story over and over again and always laughed when telling it.

In loving memory of my dear cousin, Mike, a very special man, so caring, smart, funny and inspiring. I know we were all hoping to have him around for much longer! I'll love and miss him always.

Sending my love to Penny and all of Michael's family, as The Grand family is all heartbroken to hear of his passing. He was always a joy to converse and work with, and such a hard working individual in so many respects. I want to give a virtual hug to you Penny and when we can all be together again, we will have to have a "Grand Hug" and tribute to Mike.

Penny, I am so sorry for you and the boys and your family! My heart is broken! To know I will never get another call from him on my birthday, or asking me to meet him by the dumpster with some clothes after his hip replacement! The world is a darker place without him, and all those who knew his special sense of humor will miss him as well! Love, Terry

As a distant cousin and someone who shared a name, I wish I knew him better. Hadn't seen him in a long, long, time, but always knew what a great person he was. RIP, Mike
