Michael Witter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home - Storm Lake on Oct. 24, 2024.
Michael L. Witter, age 55, of Albert City, Iowa died Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at his residence in Albert City.
Memorial services will take place Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Michael Lynn Witter was born on April 9, 1969, in Storm Lake to Thomas Bayliss and Linda
Witter (Hill). He spent most of his childhood in Newell and Spencer. Growing up, Mike enjoyed
playing baseball and bowling. He was a legend at bowling, at least in his own mind. Mike was
united in marriage with Tracy Sargent on August 21, 2014, and he happily took on the role of
dad to Brett, Beau, and Breeana. He loved spending time with his family.
Mike was baptized as a child at the United Methodist Church in Newell, but he made the choice
to accept Jesus as his savior in August 2020, along with Tracy and Breeana, and was baptized
again.
Mike achieved his GED in 1988 and his college education in mechanics in 2017. He worked as
an auto mechanic and welder since that time.
Mike struggled with addiction all of his adult life, but he had finally found a way out; he was
clean for 4 years, 9 months, and 1 day when he passed. He was a big part of the Narcotics
Anonymous program. Mike carried the message of Narcotics Anonymous to other addicts. Mike
cared deeply about the happiness and well-being of his friends and family. Helping others with
recovery became his life's work.
Mike was proceeded in death by his mother, Linda Hill; stepfather, Garry Hill; grandparents,
Charlie and Bonnie Witter, Vernon and Ellen Hill, Jack and Irene Bayliss; and an aunt, Lynn
Witter.
Left to share in Mike's memory are his wife, Tracy; children, Brett, Beau (Dot), and Breeana;
God children, Bentley Mefford and Piper Mullicane; his father, Thomas (Chris) Bayliss; siblings,
Cheryl Hill, William Hill, Jack (Katrina) Bayliss, Cassie (Kris) Lohmann, Kristin (Matt) Mouw, and
Beau (Angela) Bayliss; uncles, Roger Witter, Michael Bayliss, aunts Laurie (Allen) Bland, Pat
Bayliss, and Jackie Kaneholani; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
