Michael Yanoschak, Jr., 94 of Edison, passed away on Friday September 26, 2025. Born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Storosko) Yanoschak. Michael attended Seward Park High School, in New York City, and played centerfield for the school's baseball team, hitting a home run into the East River. After high school, Michael served in the United States Navy immediately prior to, and during, the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to his home in New York City, where he was accepted into the St John's University College of Pharmacy program. In 1955, he married Mary Koval, the love of his life, while continuing his pharmacy education. Michael completed a very successful college career, earning the honor of becoming the Class of 1957's valedictorian and serving as president of the school's chapter of the Rho Chi honor society, the highest academic honor that can be bestowed on a pharmacy student.

During his career in pharmacy, Michael held many positions in both community and industrial pharmacy, retiring from his position at Hoffmann-LaRoche in Nutley, after 20 years of service.

Michael enjoyed his days playing softball and bowling in Hoffmann-LaRoche leagues. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica and guitar. Most of all, Michael enjoyed and cherished spending time with his family, whether it be at celebrations, family reunions, or summer afternoons by the pool.

Michael was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary, his daughter, Catherine, and his dear siblings, Vladimir Yanoschak and sister Mary Yanoschak Englot. He is survived by his son, John Yanoschak and wife, Barbara, his grandchildren, Suzanne, Natalie, Christopher, Erica and Rebacca, and nine great-grandchildren, as well as by his nieces, nephews, and cousins, who he cherished and loved dearly.

Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Wednesday, October 1 from 10-11:30 am. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the funeral home at 11:30 am followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in his name, to Saint Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 675 Cooper Landing Road, Cherry Hill, New Jersey 08002, or an organization of choice.
