Obituary
It is with sadness that the management (Eddie & Jackie Nelson) and the support staff of Nelson's Funeral Home announce the passing of Mr. Michael Ray Yox, 60, of Ridgeway, South Carolina.
Mr. Yox transitioned into eternity early Wednesday morning at his residence surrounded by his beloved family who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services for Mr. Yox will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2023, 1:00 p.m. at Nelson's Funeral Home, 270 N. Dogwood Ave., Ridgeway, SC. Interment will follow in the Centerville Cemetery, Ridgeway, SC.
Mr. Michael Ray "Paw Paw" Yox of Ridgeway, South Carolina passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 5, 2023. He was born on December 9, 1962 to Dora Yox and the late Richard of Yorktown, Virginia. Michael was a loving father, grandfather, sibling, and friend to all he met. Michael was a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served from 1984-87 before being honorably discharged. In his free time, he loved to fish and spend time outdoors on the water. He was a drummer with a deep love of music. He enjoyed spending holidays with his family and being "Paw Paw Claus" for his grandchildren. Michael will be remembered for his humor, unyielding spirit, and loving heart.
He is survived by his son, Jeremy (Marcella) Yox of the home; daughter, Ashley Yox Evans; mother, Dora Yox; one brother, Rick Yox, and one sister, Cheri Yox Hartless. He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren, Macenzie, Colten, Landon, Zoe, and Emma, as well as a proud uncle of Becca, Kayla, and Ritchie "Boo." He also leaves behind six great-nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his father Richard Yox and his grandmother, Christa Leeman.
Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to his very special friend, Debbie McCormick and Agape Hospice of South Carolina for their love and care during his final months. We would also like to thank our friends and extended family for their help and support.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation at www.hpcfoundation.org in memory of him.
