Born in Montclair, Michaele was the daughter of Joseph and Jane Fastiggi. Raised in Pompton Lakes, she was a 1968 graduate of Pompton Lakes High School.
Marrying Steven Fernicola, the couple settled in Pompton Lakes, raising two daughters. In addition to caring for her family, Michaele held a long career at GAF Roofing in Parsippany, retiring two years ago.
Michaele was a strong, family-centered woman. Her greatest joy, she always said, were her six grandchildren. She adored them, as well as her beloved dog, Bam.
Her favorite pastimes included playing bingo and doing crafts, and she could regularly be found at the Wayne Public Library.
She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Jessica Curran and her husband James, and Christine Fernicola; her siblings, Kim Fastiggi, Pam Theis, and Rhys Fastiggi; her grandchildren, Justine Fernicola, Hannah Curran, Harrison Curran, James Curran, Stevie Gallow and Rusty Gallow; as well as her great-granddaughter, Nova Wichternan. She was predeceased by her former husband, Steven Fernicola.
Cremation will be held privately. A memorial service is being planned for a future date.

I am just hearing about Michaele's passing. I worked with her for over 12 years at GAF. She was a good person and a hard worker. She will be greatly missed. Thinking and praying for your family!
