Micheal Lee Holman, 67, of
Columbus, Kansas, died August 23, 2025, following a 7-year battle with early onset frontotemporal dementia. He was born October 2, 1957, in Winfield, KS, the son of Emery Ben and Beverly Maxine (Halling) Holman. He graduated from Winfield High School with the Class of 1975 and went on to graduate from Pittsburg State University with a Construction Engineering degree in 1985. On December 29, 1984, he was united in marriage to Dianna Jeanne Ortolani at Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, Kansas; she survives him of the home. Micheal was employed by Crossland Construction for 20 years. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Columbus and the Knights of Columbus. Mike's life was a testament to empathy, generosity, commitment to family, and joy. He dedicated his life to giving back to others. In 1988, Mike, Jim Otter, Rob Jarvis, and Mark McGivern started a construction scholarship. For the first year, they pitched in $50 each. Thanks to fundraisers over the years, they have given over $1 million in scholarships to over 1,000 students. Mike was also a mentor to many-often taking struggling employees and students under his wing, welcoming them into his home, and helping them achieve their potential. His servant's heart touched countless lives. Mike treasured his role as a husband and father. He loved Dianna deeply and faithfully and was endlessly proud of his children. He never missed a sports game, band concert, dance recital, or pageant, and he delighted in coaching many of their teams. Mike was also very active throughout his life, participating in track and field, football, rugby, and ultimate frisbee. His favorite sports to play were ultimate frisbee and frisbee golf. He enjoyed being in tournaments with his friends and family over the years. He served on the board of the Kansas Disc Sport Scholarship Foundation for 22 years. Survivors include his wife, Dianna, of the home; a daughter, Anna Lee Holman and her fiancé, Evan Dobler, of Kansas City, Missouri; two sons, Micheal Joseph (Ashton) Holman of Chanute, Kansas, and Nicholas Ben (Alyssa) Holman of Webb City, Missouri; two sisters, Beverly (Dan) Rogers of Manhattan, Kansas and Kathy (Justin) Waite of Winfield, Kansas; four grandchildren, Elyana Holman, Alexys Holman, Kayleigh (Alex) Acevedo, and Skilynn Watkins; and one great-grandson, Raphael Acevedo.
