Joyce Lynn Storrer, age 65, of Moran, Kansas, passed away November 19, 2025, at the Allen County Regional Hospital, Iola, Kansas. Joyce was born August 30, 1960, in Iola, Kansas, to Max R. Spillman and Velma L. (Robb) Spillman.
Joyce attended school in Moran and graduated from Marmaton Valley High School in 1978. She then attended college at Allen Community College and Pittsburg State University, earning a bachelor's degree in education.
Joyce married Randall Storrer on August 15, 1986, Iola, Kansas. Joyce and Randall were married for 29 years. They later divorced.
Joyce taught school in Elsmore and then Moran, retiring after 39 years of teaching elementary and junior high school. She continued to substitute teach after she retired. Joyce loved her school kids like her own and she said they got her through many good and bad times in her life. She also loved her grand kittens and any other stray cat that was hungry.
Some of Joyce's favorite hobbies included antique shopping and collecting, traveling and going out to eat. She also loved being with her grandkids.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents.
Joyce is survived by her children, Shawn (Sabrina Arell) Storrer, Misty (Tommy Joles) Storrer; grandchildren, Nova Bishop, Haysten Storrer; siblings, James Spillman, Phyllis (Matt) Cooper, Janet Beth (Richard) Hurd, Samuel (Nealie) Spillman; and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025, in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Midpoint Point Baptist Church, Moran, Kansas. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mildred, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to the Joyce Storrer Memorial Fund (to be used for the school in Moran and for the Moran City Park). Memorials may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
