Michele Frederick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Iowa Cremation - Cedar Rapids on Feb. 13, 2026.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michele Victoria Frederick on January 20th, 2026. Michele died at the age of 53 after a courageous 25-year battle with brain cancer. Her life was characterized by extraordinary resilience, quiet strength, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear. Diagnosed at 28 years old with a brain tumor, she confronted her illness with determination and grace, resolutely refusing to permit it to define her and how she lived her life. Over the years, she endured countless treatments of chemotherapy, radiation and other obstacles that she faced, yet remained deeply engaged with her family, friends, and community. Her perseverance served as a source of inspiration to many, as she consistently demonstrated compassion, humor, and generosity, even in the worst moments.

Michele was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend whose presence offered comfort and warmth to those around her. She found joy in simple moments-shared meals, meaningful conversations, and time spent with loved ones. Her empathy and kindness have left a lasting imprint on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Beyond her illness, she will be remembered for her strength of character, her thoughtful nature, and her capacity to find beauty and meaning in life despite adversity. She imparted the power of hope, patience, and love to those around her.

She is survived by her sons, Christopher Haley and his wife, Katelyn Meade-Haley, and Jordan Stiles; and two grandchildren, Bexley and Braelyn Haley, her mother, Pam Mann; her brothers, Mike and his wife, Lissa Frederick, Thomas and his wife, Jeannette Frederick; her sister, Sharon and her husband, Brian Frechette; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, who will cherish her memory with gratitude and love. Her legacy endures in the lives she touched and the example she set of courage and perseverance. Her family is appreciative and grateful for the care she received over the years from the UIHC Holden Cancer Center, The Nassif Cancer Center, and St. Luke's Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at a date to be determined. In lieu of floral tributes, the family respectfully invites those who wish to honor her memory to consider making a donation to a brain cancer research organization or the St. Luke's Foundation. She will be deeply missed and eternally remembered.
