Michele "Mickie" Roche Rumsey, 73, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland and previously of Richmond, Virginia passed away on July 29, 2025, after a brave 4-year battle with kidney and liver cancer. Born in Springfield, Ohio, Mickie graduated from St. Gertrude's High School in Richmond. She held jobs in both the banking business and in doctor's offices, and was married to Floyd "Sunny" French, who passed away in November 1992. After the death of her husband, she married David K. Rumsey in September, 1994 and lovingly devoted more than 30 years to creating a warm and caring home for her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling the world, attending baseball games, spending time with her family and attending their sports events, and visiting with relatives and friends. She is survived by her beloved husband, David K. Rumsey; her children, Ramon "Trey" Hines of Stevensville, MD, Kristy M. Hines of Pawley's Island, SC, and Kari F. Denis of Chestertown, MD; her stepchildren, Brian Rumsey of West Friendship, MD, Kevin Rumsey of Charlottesville, VA, Alan Rumsey of Fall River, MA, Wayne Rumsey of Alexandria, VA, and Anne Thompson of West River, MD; her siblings, Sheryl Mock of Fredericksburg, VA , Teresa O'Brien of Richmond, VA , and James Roche of Richmond, VA; and 17 beloved grandchildren. An inurnment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mickie's name to Hospice of the Chesapeake (90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD or online here).
