In the gentle embrace of nostalgia, we remember Michele Salvino, a cherished soul affectionately known as Michael, PopPop and MikMik, whose time on earth concluded on November 1, 2023. Born in the town of Rogliano, Italy, on April 6, 1935, Michele ventured across oceans, guided by the American dream. His journey epitomized the quintessence of determination, resilience, and unwavering love and sacrifice for his family.
In the quaint town of Rogliano, Italy, Michele's formative years were adorned with the warmth of familial bonds, etching an indelible mark on his heart. Upon his arrival in the United States, he embarked upon an extraordinary journey. For countless years, he was a skillful tailor for Botany 500 and ultimately served as a supervisor at Pincus Brothers Maxwell in Philadelphia, PA. His path was paved with the bricks of a new language and the challenge of acclimating to a foreign culture. Yet, these sacrifices were eclipsed by his commitment to providing for his family, whom he loved with a passion that was unbridled.
Michele leaves behind his loving and steadfast partner, Francesca (Pascuzzo), his beloved wife of 65 years; Michele worked tirelessly alongside her to provide for their family. Together, they crafted a haven of love, weaving it into the fabric of their children's lives. Endless hours were devoted, sacrifices made, as they worked multiple jobs, their hands calloused from labor, their hearts alight with devotion. Their home resonated with love, support, and boundless opportunities, nurturing their children's intellects, enabling them to grasp the finest education, thus paving the path to their success.
In the wake of Michele's departure, he also leaves behind a legacy that transcends the boundaries of time and space. His cherished daughter, Adelina Taraborelli, and her husband David Watson (
Mullica Hill, NJ), and his son, Anthony (Antonello) P. Salvino, and his wife Pamela Kelly-Salvino (Orefield, PA), remain the torchbearers of his profound love. Grandchildren, Victoria van der Tak and her husband Julian van der Tak (Drexel Hill, PA), Michael and Klaudia Salvino (Orefield, PA), and Taylor and Jolie Watson, along with numerous extended family and friends, mourn his passing. They recall his kindness, his deep love for family, and his infectious sense of humor, each memory a testament to the remarkable man he was.
Michele Salvino's wisdom was profound, conveyed through simple yet powerful words. His sound advice, wrapped in the wisdom of ages, invariably centered around life's core treasures: family and friends. Though he may have departed this world, his presence endures in the stories he shared and the lives he touched. He lingers in the laughter that once resonated in his presence and the enduring love that he bestowed upon his family. In our hearts, he remains a beacon of inspiration, a testament to the spirit of an Italian immigrant who not only pursued his dreams but also found a cherished home within the hearts of many. The love he gave knows no bounds, and the sacrifices he made are eternally engraved in our souls, a debt of gratitude we can never repay. We thank you for everything, PopPop.
Michele was laid to rest on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Jesus Bread of Life Cemetery,
Mount Laurel, NJ, following a private service held for the family at Bradley Funeral Home,
Marlton, NJ. The Salvino family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to extended family members and friends for their outpouring of love and support. PopPop loved you all!
