Micheline P. Spung, Age 93, a 55-year resident of Romeoville, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side, Friday, December 20, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James D. Spung; their son, Christopher A. Spung; her parents, Louis and Pauline Dosset; stepfather, Eugene Botte; sister, Jeanine (Jean-Jacques Larroche; sister, Ginette (Jean) Sordel.
Micheline is survived by her loving children, Patricia Mojziszek, James (Sheila) Spung, Philippe Spung, Thierry (Sue) Spung, Patrick (Oralia) Spung, Nathalie (Brian) Kuhn, Lorelei (John) Fejer, Scott (Sandra) Spung, Stephanie Spung; cherished grandmother of 21 and cherished great-grandmother of 31.
Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews
Micheline was born December 10, 1931, in Basse-Indre, France. She lived through World War II and in 1953 she met James while working at the U.S. Army Base in St. Nazaire, France and were married in 1954. During the 20 years of military service, they travelled back and forth from Europe to the US. During that time, they had 9 children. Finally settling in Romeoville in 1969 where they had their 10th child.
In 1984 Micheline took a job at Plainfield Molding which she enjoyed. She retired in 1994 to spend more time with her family. She cherished her roles as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to travel and most of all spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered for her warmth and kindness to everyone she knew.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025 from 3-8 pm at Anderson Memorial Chapel, 606 Townhall Dr, Romeoville IL 60446. Funeral service will begin that night at 7:00 pm. An additional time of visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, at 11:30am at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood IL 60421, beginning at 2:00pm.
