Michelle Banik (nee' Werner), age 58, passed peacefully on April 18, 2025, after having fiercely and bravely battled breast cancer for over twelve years.
Born in 1967 in Newtown Square, PA to the late Theresa (nee' Klein) and Francis D. Werner, Michelle grew up in Broomall, PA going to Cardinal O'Hara High School and receiving a bachelor's degree at Neumann University. Following graduation, Michelle had a successful career in the insurance industry, working for several esteemed companies including The Green Tree, The Philadelphia Contributionship, and Munich Re. Michelle had two children with David Klein and married Greg Banik in 2021. In 2022, Michelle and her family moved to
Riverton, NJ, where Michelle was elected to the Riverton Borough Council in November 2024.
Michelle's charm, intelligence, grace, and warmth were evident to all who met her. Her quick wit, joyous humor, and, when appropriate, take-no-nonsense bluntness were among her most endearing qualities. Michelle's greatest love was spending time with her family, who considered her a focal point. Her interests were many, including cooking, baking, listening to an eclectic selection of music genres, and watching movies. She was especially gifted at home renovation and decorating, gardening, and enjoyed being outdoors, having ridden horses regularly during her teenage years. Her energy was on display during walks, where she typically outpaced everyone else. Michelle also enjoyed entertaining at home with her husband, fine dining, art, and attending concerts performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Michelle is predeceased by her father, mother, and Uncle, Victor Klein. She is survived by her husband, Greg, her brother, Mark, her Aunt Margaret Biello, two children, Sawyer and Laura, three stepchildren, Nathan (Emily Podany) Achilly, Anna (Tom) Croce, and Claire (Billy) Vick, and five grandchildren, Vivian Achilly, Zoe Achilly, James Achilly, Calista Croce, and Charlotte Vick, all of whom lovingly call Michelle "Grammy".
Michelle touched the lives of many with fierce devotion to family and friends. Her intelligence, warmth, love, and friendship will be missed by all who knew her.
