Ward, SC: Michelle Yolanda Daniels, a beloved daughter, sister and devoted teacher passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, receiving her final reward-a home in heaven.
Born on a cold winter night, December 31, 1970 Michelle was born, daughter of James Franklin and Carrie Harris Daniel. A proud 1989 graduate of Ridge Spring Monetta High School in Monetta, South Carolina. She began her higher education at two HBCU schools. After one semester at Voorhees College, she was encouraged by her cousin, Nylor Coleman, to transfer to Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina, where she earned a B.S. in Education in 1995. She continued her pursuit of knowledge, earning a Master's in Education from Cambridge College in Massachusetts in 2010. A lifelong learner, she was less than 30 hours shy of her doctorate degree and was in the process of re-enrolling in school. She constantly pushed others to continue their education.
For years, Michelle dedicated herself to teaching in school districts across Saluda, Aiken, Lexington, and Edgefield Counties. Although she had no children of her own, she left a lasting legacy with every student she taught. During her summers, she also worked at Beason's Cleaners and Laundry and for her cousin, Kathy Robertson, at Kathy's Daycare.
Michelle was an avid reader and loved to travel before her illness prevented her from doing so. She was a natural planner and coordinator who was deeply devoted to her family.
Michelle's faith was a central part of her life. She was baptized at the Mine Creek Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Jordan Bussey, where she attended faithfully until her illness. She was very active in the church, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, coordinating Vacation Bible School, serving as assistant secretary, and filling in wherever she was needed.
Her passion for service extended beyond her local church. Inspired by Sis. Tecora G. Burt, she became involved with numerous organizations, including the Simmon Ridge Samaritan Baptist Association Woman's Auxiliary, where she served as Assistant Treasurer, Second Vice President, First Vice President, and later, President. She also served as the Recording Secretary and Statistician for the Woman's Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of South Carolina. An instructor with the SC Baptist Congress of Christian Education, she also previously served as Field Missionary Chairlady with the Congress. Her goal was to foster a closer relationship between state organizations and local churches. Throughout her lifetime, Michelle received numerous awards from various organizations and schools for her dedication and hard work.
Michelle is survived by her loving parents, James Franklin and Carrie Harris Daniel, Ward; SC; brother and wife, James Franklin and Andretta Daniel of Grovetown, GA; sister, Melanie L. Daniel of Ward, SC; nephew, Garrett and niece, Alauryn; uncles, MC (Febee) Harris of Jamaica, NY and Nathaniel Daniel o Richmond Hills of GA; special God Child, Talayah Hamilton of Johnston, SC and her entire family, all of whom she loved her dearly.
