Michelle Whitfield "Mikki" Houck

Michelle Whitfield Houck, affectionately known as Mikki to her friends and family, passed away surrounded by her family and in the comforting embrace of her faith on November 14, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on April 14, 1952, in Quincy, Florida, Mikki's life journey spanned 73 years of selfless love, dedicated service, and unwavering faith.
Mikki brightened the lives of all who knew her. Her gentle spirit and generous heart were the hallmarks of her character. She was born to Cecil and Voncile Whitfield, whose memories she held dear and who, along with her sister Jackie Whitfield Hankin and her cherished husband of twenty years, Tommy Houck, greeted her with joyous reunion in heaven.
Mikki's legacy lives on through her loving sisters, Pat Franklin (Joe) and Jo Smith (Van), who will continue to cherish her memory. Her three nieces, Misty Grimm (Jeff), Laura Manley (Kevin) and Katie Hagan (Reese) and three nephews, Jim Franklin (Kindra), John Franklin (Alana) and Chris Corbett (Kim), beloved cousins, Bob McDaniel (Denisa) and Michael "Worm" Lee; a bonus brother, Frank Pringle, sister-in-law Frances Whittaker, and brothers-in-law Mike Hankin, and Edward Houck (Bonnie) also survive her, each bearing the imprint of her kindness and grace.
A proud graduate of Chattahoochee High School, Mikki's dedication to her community was evident through her thirty-plus years of service with the State of Florida Division of Retirement. After her official retirement, she continued to be a guiding presence, generously offering her wisdom and support to those navigating their own retirements.
Mikki's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Chattahoochee, she served on various committees, most notably the bereavement committee, through which she offered comfort and support to others during their times of loss. Her dedication to church and community exemplified her loving nature; in every action, she put the needs of others before her own.
Christmas was a season Mikki cherished deeply, not just for the festivities but for its spiritual significance. Her love for Jesus Christ shone brightly as she shared the true meaning of Christmas with everyone, especially those who were at risk of being overlooked amid the holiday rush.
Words like loving, selfless, and generous only scratch the surface in describing Mikki's character. She truly was a friend to all, touching lives with her generosity, her unwavering kindness, and her ability to see and nurture the good in others.
Mikki's passing leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire those who knew her. She will be remembered as a woman who lived her life as a testament to the values she held dear-a life well-lived, full of purpose, and brimming with love. Her light, though no longer present in this world, will forever shine in the hearts of those she touched.
Mikki's family will receive friends for visitation and fellowship on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Eastern Time at McAlpin Funeral Home. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Chattahoochee beginning at 11:00 AM Eastern Time. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Chattahoochee, FL. Serving as pallbearers are Jim Franklin, John Franklin, Levi Franklin, Kyle Poythress, Curtis Locke, Chris Corbett and BJ McDaniel.
