Mary V. Hamby

Mary Vinson Hamby, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, in Marianna, Florida, at the age of 78. Born on December 6, 1946, in Orange County, Florida, Mary's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and joy that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Mary grew up in the warm embrace of her parents, James Vinson and Claudia Sasser Vinson, and alongside her siblings in the sunny climes of Florida. Her early years were filled with the laughter and camaraderie that would become the hallmark of her own family in the years to come. Though she was preceded in death by her loving parents, her brother Ricky Vinson, and her daughter Constance Breaden, Mary's legacy of love continued to shine brightly through her beloved family.
In 1964, Mary's life took a beautiful turn when she married her soulmate, Wayne Hamby, in Apopka, Florida. Their marriage was a testament to commitment and affection, flourishing over 61 years. The couple was blessed with four children, Laurie Morris (Harvey), Judith Hamby, Constance Breaden, and Timothy Wayne Hamby, who would go on to give Mary the joy of nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mary's love extended to her two sisters, Debbie Mabry and Patricia Huffstutler (Thomas), and her devoted dog Sissy, alongside a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her deeply.
After spending 20 years in Apopka, Mary and her family moved to Chattahoochee, Florida, where she took on the role of Parts Clerk at Quincy Farms. Her work there, until her retirement, was marked by the same care and attention she devoted to every aspect of her life. Mary's colleagues cherished her for her work ethic and her warm, engaging personality.
Mary's interests were as rich and varied as her life. She was an avid quilter, pouring her creativity and love into each stitch, creating beautiful pieces that will serve as lasting memories of her talent and passion. A voracious reader, Mary found joy and solace in the world of books, often sharing stories and recommendations with those around her. Her love for travel took her to many places, always in search of new experiences and the simple pleasure of a good yard sale bargain. Mary also found happiness tending to her flower beds, where she cultivated beauty just as she did in every aspect of her life.
Mary Vinson Hamby's life was an example of love and kindness. Her unwavering devotion to her family, her infectious enthusiasm for her interests, and her generous spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she has left this earthly realm, the warmth of her presence will be felt forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
