Michelle Shoemaker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith Funeral Home-Keyser Chapel on Dec. 23, 2025.
Michelle Lynn Shoemaker, 56, of Keyser, WV, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025 at her daughter's residence surrounded by her loving family while under the care of WVU Medicine Hospice.
Born on May 23, 1969 in Cumberland, MD, she was a daughter of the late Ronald Allen "Tarzan" Loar and Wanda Lee (Jenkins) Fisher. She also was preceded in death by her stepfather, Carl "Buddy" Fisher; the father of two of her grandchildren, Austin O'Baker; her boyfriend, Larry Chalfont and a close friend, Robert "Bob" Becker.
Michelle was a 1987 graduate of Allegany High School in Cumberland. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, always putting her family's needs above her own. She was a feisty and high-spirited person, much like her mother, her daughters fondly referring to her as a "firecracker."
Surviving are her daughters, Ashley Caple and husband Brandon of Keyser, Tajah Moorehead and husband Thomas "T.J." of Keyser and Echeo Younger and fiance Lamont Smith of Baltimore, MD; 12 grandchildren that she absolutely adored, Kohle, Alannah, Abrie and Braxton Caple, Aaralynn and Tivyian O'Baker, Kylah, Traiden and Kamilla Moorehead, Martez Peck and Elleonnaa and Kiiloh Smith. Also surviving are three brothers, Ronald "Ronnie" Loar, Jr. of Keyser and Jason and Justin Loar, both of Mt. Savage, MD and close friends, Margaret "Maggie" Donato and Jennifer Ritchie Perdew.
At the request of the family, there will be no visitation or services.
The Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Keyser, is in charge of the arrangements.
"A thousand words won't bring you back, I know because I've tried; neither will a million tears, I know because I've cried. Each happiness of yesterday is a memory for tomorrow. Always on my mind, forever in my heart. The life of the dead is placed in the heart of the living. Treasured in my heart you'll stay, until we meet again some day. Forever in this heart of mine, an everlasting bond, for now until the end of time, are memories so fond. Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear. You never said I'm leaving you, never said goodbye. You were gone before I knew it and only God knew why. A million times I needed you, a million times I cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life I loved you dearly, in death I love you still. In my heart you hold a place that no one could ever fill. It broke my heart to lose you, but you didn't go alone; for part of me went with you the day God took you home. Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am in a thousand winds that blow, I am the softly falling snow. I am the gentle showers of rain, I am the fields of ripening grain. I am in the morning hush, I am in the graceful rush of beautiful birds in circling flight, I am a star shining in the night. I am in the flowers that bloom, I am in a quiet room. I am in the birds that sing, I am in each lovely thing. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die!
