Ms. Michez Janita Fowler, 46, was born July 19, 1978, to the proud parents of Cynthia McDuffie Fowler (deceased) and James "Woot" Fowler. Michez was the third child of four siblings and was the baby girl. She was a loving and easy little girl.
She departed this life on September 9, 2024, at Prisma Health, Greenville, South Carolina.
Michez was a graduate of Westside High School Class of 1998. She attended Tri-County Technical College, and Forrest College, where she graduated in Medical Administration. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and was formerly employed with NHC, Richard Campbell, and AnMed Rehab Hospital. She was a Phlebotomist, Patient Care Tech (PCT), Unit Secretary and Monitor TCC at Bon Secours – St. Francis Downtown Hospital in Greenville, SC for 17 years, where she worked with wonderful doctors, nurses, and medical staff that she loved as her second family.
From childhood into adult life, she attended Thompson Centennial U.M. Church, and St. Paul First Baptist Church with family.
She loved shopping with her mother during her lifetime, along with sisters Eurasia and Nicole Fowler, nieces, aunties, cousins and friends.
Being a "Foodie," she loved family dinners and enjoyed her daddy's cooking. Her favorites he prepared included beef stew, baked macaroni and cheese, and cornbread – to name a few. She also enjoyed her big sister Eurasia's good food and cakes. Her favorite restaurants were Red Lobster, Chilli's, Thai and Olive Garden. Michez had a big personality and was the life of the party – always with a laugh and a hug.
Leaving to cherish her memories are her father, James "Woot" Fowler, big sisters, Eurasia and Nicole Fowler, brother – who she was very close to – James Alvin Jr. (Amelia). She also leaves a special friend, Haywood "Kevin" Mattress, who was very dear in her life. She was a funny and outgoing auntie, who loved her nieces: Brittani Evans, Jadeasia Fowler, Promise Kendrick, Alexianna Brown, Brianna Brown, Justina Fowler and Jamiracle Fowler; nephews: Trevon and Andrian Fowler; Six great nieces and nephews; Aunts: Clara Nash (Marion – deceased), Virginia Galloway, Catherine Oliver (L.C. – deceased); uncles: Willie McDuffie (Elizabeth), Arthur "Moe" Brown, Henry and Shelia Hogan; and a host of cousins, relatives, extended family, co-workers and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Cynthia McDuffie Fowler, Grandparents, Janie Mae McDuffie Scott, Lonnie Scott, Luellen and Norman Fowler; Great Grandmother Archie Bell Heard; Aunt, Velma Fowler and Uncle, William "Chokie" Fowler.

I worked with Michez on Nights on the 7th floor from 2006-2011 and I cannot name one time when Michez made me laugh or smile because every single night we worked together she always made me laugh and smile. She got my honors and I always got hers. She called me CLR (like the cleaner) because those are my initials. She told me I should invest in their company since they were using my initials. My mother and her mother were both sick earlier this year and we chatted all of the time about how they were doing. The only thing that gives me any peace right now is knowing that Michez was met by her mother in Heaven. Michez should still be with her family and friends today. I will forever miss our Chez! Love you always my friend.

Where do you start talking about Michez? She made a difference in everyone´s life that ever came in contact with her. As a phlebotomist I come to 7th floor to see patients but you always have to stop by the desk to see and talk to Michez. She´s always happy, positive, smiling and you always have some good conversations with her and she always wants to know how I´m doing. That big smile of hers always brightens up the night and 7th floor is gonna be such a dark place without the light she exuberates. Not just the 7th floor but the whole hospital is gonna need everyone´s prayers because she touched so many people. We should all strive to be as kind, generous, sweet, giving, compassionate, loving and full of life as Michez was. Praying for her family.
