It is with heavy heart and great sadness to share the passing of Retired Army Veteran First Sgt Michiel Perrault Sr. Michiel, a veteran of the Vietnam War Passed on 7 March 2025 at the age of 75. Michiel was battling ongoing health issues over the last few years that finally allowed him to rest. Per his wishes he spent his final days under the compassionate care of Harbour Hospice where he peacefully passed at his home of residence with his wife FengQun Liang.
Michiel was born on 22 Sept 1949 to his loving parents, Archie and Mary Perrault in Brockton Massachusetts. He was 1 of 5 children( Archie, Pat, Faith, Mary). Michiel was raised in Brockton as a child upon enlisting in the Army after graduating High School. He entered the Army attending Basic training at Ft Bragg located in North Carolina on 17 January 1969. Upon completing basic training, he was assigned into the communication career field. He dedicated his life to the Army, lived by the means of service before self and to his country. The Army was his everything while enlisted and during his life after the Army as his oath never expired. Throughout his distinguished career he had several assignments as well as deployments being involved in many conflicts around the world. Due to his dedication and unwavering pride for duty he was awarded many awards that reflected his bravery and commitment to his service. A highly decorated soldier earning a Defense meritorious service medal, 3 Meritorious service medals, 1 Army commendation medals, 4 Army Achievement medals and many more. During his tenure in the Army he continued his education earning a Bachelors degree in communications/I.T. from Regents College. On 1 Jan. in 1993, Michiel’s Army enlisted career came to end. He received an Honorable discharge retiring from Ft Monmouth. Upon retirement he continued to exemplify the values the Army instilled into him by entering the civil service work force where he continued to serve others.
He found solace in golf as a hobby which he really grew to love, working on computers and finding anyone that would listen to his many war stories and experiences in the military. He had a small community of friends that Michiel enjoyed being around. He spent most of his time with his Wife Fengqun in which they both cherished each other.
Michiel was a devoted husband to his current wife FengQun. He was also survived by his two children, Michiel Jr and James. Both of his children followed his foot steps by joining the Military. Michiel Jr joined the Airforce serving 15years currently residing in Delaware and James who joined the Army Guard and still serving his country residing in Gardner Mass.. He has a step daughter from his current wife, Lulu that resides in china with her husband Shuqiang Wang . Michiel is also a grandfather of 7 ( Zakerie, Dominic, Gabriel, Declan, Travis, Jillian and Yifan ). Michiel will be remembered for his heart, kindness, sarcastic wit in his jokes and of course his impatience and stubbornness. His legacy will live on in people that truly knew him, cared for him and understood him. His service to his country and devotion to the Army will serve as his greatest joy!!
A viewing will be held on 30 March 2025 from 5p-8p at Schertz funeral home
Funeral service will be held on 31 Mar 2025 at 1p at Schertz Funeral home
Burial will be held right after on 31 Mar 2025 at 230pm at Fort Sam Houston National cemetery.
