Michio "Mitch" Ota was born May 20, 1937, in San Mateo, California to Satoru and Kimiye Ota. Mitch was the youngest of the two sons and was raised in San Mateo, and all along the Bay Area. Mitch worked in Silicon Valley working various jobs, but primarily within the printed circuit board industry.

Mitch met his first wife Edna Christian and her son Kevin; they were married for 10 years and had his two daughters Kathryn & Traci. After his first marriage dissolved, in 1973, Mitch met his second wife Margaret "Peggy" Ota (Ross) with her 3 children Carine, Christine & Andrew and became a blended family. He moved to Colorado Springs with Peggy and the children in January 1979. They were officially married July 15, 1984, at the Starlite Chapel in Reno, Nevada, just after the birth of their second grandchild.

Mitch loved manicured landscaping, walking with Peggy and their dogs, camping with his granddaughters, and spending time with his family. Mitch continued to work in the printed circuit board industry until his retirement from DDI in March 2000, when they sold their home, bought a truck and fifth-wheel trailer, and decided to travel becoming full time snowbirds returning to summer in Colorado where they worked as various campground hosts. In 2016 when they felt that they could no longer travel, they decided to come home permanently to be with family and resided with their daughter Carine. Countless hours were spent around the dining table recounting stories of childhood and life with Peggy, Carine, Jervaise, and Jessi. Mitch and Peggy loved watching sunsets together. Mitch remained with his daughter Carine until the time of his passing on August 18.

Mitch is survived by his daughters Kathryn Ota-Erbaugh (Dave); Traci Ota-Dorsey; and their children and grandchildren.

Mitch is also survived by his daughters Carine Murr; Christine Secrist (John); his grandchildren Jervaise (Christopher) Pileggi; Jessica (Adam) King; Elijah Secrist; David Secrist, and Rebekah LeRoy (Jün); and great grandchildren, Remi King; Jenevieve and Ellerie Pileggi; and Michaiah LeRoy.He was proceeded in death by his parents Satoru and Kimiye Ota; grandmother Wada; sons Andrew Barreras and Kevin C; brother Yas Ota; wife Peggy Ota; and great-granddaughters Harvey King and baby Erbaugh.
