After graduating from Ruggle-Troy High School in 1951, he enlisted in the US Navy. Mickey served three years aboard the USS Lofberg DD 759 during the Korean War.
During his career as a HVAC Product Engineer and Laboratory Supervisor, he was the co-holder of thirteen patents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Christine Hickey, sons- Matthew Hickey and his wife Cindy of Harriman, Scott Hickey and Lisa Wheat of Crossville, Kevin Hickey and his wife Jessica of West Chester, OH and five grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother- Vincent Hickey.
He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8152 and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He was also a past member of the Lawn Angels of the church.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday June 12, 2024 at 11am at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Interment will at East TN State Veterans Cemetery.
