Mickey Luna, beloved wife, mother, and cherished member of the community, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, in Collierville, Tennessee. She was born on January 4, 1936, in Saulsbury, Tennessee, daughter of the late Odis White McKee and Beatrice Riley McKee and had lived in the Memphis area over 60 years. Mickey led a fulfilling life that was marked by love and dedication to her family.
Graduating from Grand Junction High School, Mickey worked for Welcome Wagon for several years. However, her most cherished role was that of a homemaker as she dedicated herself to raising her children with love and care.
Mrs. Luna found joy in playing tennis (in her younger years), sewing and cooking and exhibited great skill and passion while indulging in these activities. Additionally, she nurtured a deep connection with nature and enjoyed yard work and tending to her house plants. Mickey's green thumb was evident to all who visited her home.
She was married to Mr. Hugh C. Luna on January 15, 1955 and, their union lasted 68 years until her passing. Mr. Luna departed this life only three days after her on Friday, August 11, 2023.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her surviving family members. She leaves her daughter, Cheryl McClarty of Oakland, MS and son, Ronnie Luna (Sheila) of Mt. Pleasant, MS will forever treasure the guidance and love they received from their dear mother. Ron's wife, Sheila, remembers her as the best mother-in-law a daughter-in-law could ever hope for.
In addition to her immediate family members, Mickey leaves behind cherished memories for numerous extended family members and friends. Her brothers, Jimmy McKee (Darlene) of Paris, TN and Ricky McKee (Martha Nell) of Paris, TX and her sister, Nelda Vaughn of Grand Junction hold fond memories of their beloved sister. She was a grandmother to Mandy Khan, Ashley Luna and Craig McClarty and a great grandmother to McKenna Stonecipher, Luke Khan and Elizabeth Khan. She will me missed, as well, by a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Galloway and Bernice Shelby; and two brothers, J.W. and Odis McKee.
Mickey Luna's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all those who knew her.
