Mickey Webb Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Iles Grandview Park Chapel on Feb. 28, 2026.
Mickey "Mick" Dean Webb, 83, of Altoona, Iowa, passed away on February 24, 2026. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Iles Grandview Park Chapel, 3211 Hubbell Ave., Des Moines, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM Friday, March 6, 2026 also at Iles Grandview Park Chapel. Private Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

He was born on October 17, 1942 in Des Moines to Wilbur Levi Webb and Helen Bernice (Padgitt) Webb. Mick grew up an "Eastsider," wrestled and graduated from Tech High School where he learned his skill in printing. He worked for Norman Printing right out of high school and later owned his own shop, Professional Offset Printing for 50+ years until he retired and gave his son,Todd, the duties.

Mick loved sports and coached his daughter in softball for several years. He also played fast pitch softball and later on, slow pitch.

Mick was a passionate Yankees and Mickey Mantle fan all his life and an avid Iowa State fan back to the Dan Gable wrestling days and "Here's Johnny" era.

He loved driving his "65 Vette and going to car shows. But most of all, it was all about family and attending all of their games and activities. He loved the kids and always had a white mint to be given to the girls from the moment Natalie was a few months old to his last days with them. You could always count on the fridge being fully stocked with glass mini Coke bottles. In summer, the kids spent endless hours swimming in the pool or riding the mini bike around the yard.

Mick was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Tracie; brothers, Gene, Wayne, Ron, Bob and his sister, Karen.

He is survived by his wife, Lavona; son, Todd; his grandchildren, Dawn (Jarrod), Michael (Lauren), and Daniel (Bailey); great grandchildren, Natalie and Alivia; a sister, Betty; brothers, Bill and Jim; and many nieces and nephews.
