Mickey Lynn White, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant to his community, passed away surrounded by family on December 30, 2025, in
Granbury, Texas. He was a man defined by his work ethic, loyalty, and deep love for those around him. Mickey was a well-known and respected figure in Hood County, recognized for his long career in retail management, small business ownership, and his passion for barbecue and bringing people together.
Mickey Lynn White was born on December 28, 1956, in
Waco, Texas, to Thomas J. White and Billie White. He was a proud graduate of Granbury High School, Class of 1975. Mickey shared 38 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Joan White, with whom he raised three children. Their marriage was a source of strength and pride, and their legacy lives on through their children and grandchildren.
Mickey was one of the hardest-working men many knew. He believed deeply in earning your way, showing up for others, and doing things the right way. He devoted 43 years to grocery store management with Buddy's, Winn-Dixie, and Brookshire's, earning the respect of coworkers and customers alike through his dedication, leadership, and passion for service. He was also the owner of Lakeside Country Market on Highway 51 North in Granbury, where he became a familiar and trusted presence in the community.
A lifelong fan of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, Mickey also loved to fish and found great joy in cooking for others on his BBQ smoker. He had a generous heart and consistently put others before himself.
Mickey was a Mason and a proud member of Granbury Masonic Lodge #392. He volunteered with numerous organizations throughout Hood County and was a devoted supporter of Hood County Cancer Services, Granbury FFA, and United Way. He also served his community for many years as a member of both the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department and the North Hood County Volunteer Fire Department.
Mickey was preceded in death by his wife, Joan White, and his brothers, Tom White and his twin brother, Rickey White. He is survived by his children, Anthony White and his wife Leah, Amanda Smothers and her husband Adonis, and Jerad White; his sister, Billie Mace and her husband Joe; his beloved grandchildren, Austin White, Nicole Petschel, and Sarayah Smothers; many nieces and nephews; and his companion, Helen Hensel.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at The Wiley Center, 420 Highway 377 East,
Granbury, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial account has been established at First National Bank of Granbury in memory of Mickey Lynn White.
A future scholarship fund is being established in memory of Mickey Lynn White to award a scholarship to a student on the Granbury High School BBQ competition cooking team.
