Micky Hawman Obituary
Born in Monte Vista, CO to James Edwin Hawman and Ester Jean Hawman (Kluge) on July 31, 1949. Mick spent his coming-of-age years in Las Cruces, NM and moved to Red Lodge, MT with his then-wife, Theresa, in 1975. Mick and Theresa maintained a lifelong relationship of friendship and respect; even living in neighboring homes while raising their two children, Gabriel and Cristina.
Mick developed an affection for motor vehicles at a young age. His shops were always large and full. Some of his restorations were over fifty years in the making. Mick's projects were always meant to be used, and he cherished the road miles with friends and family. A man of many talents, there was nothing he could not accomplish. Failure was not an option, as he would say. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. He built his own home, grew his own food, and was passionate about his always beautiful yard.
Professionally, Mick was a serial entrepreneur with operations spanning paint & drywall, restaurants, auctions, antiques, media, property management, real estate, and his favorite role of all: Grandpa. He was a strong provider and great mentor. His prominent bold voice made it almost impossible not to listen to what he had to say or was trying to teach. He often bragged that his most successful ventures were done on a handshake.
Mick was preceded in death by his father, two sisters Joyce and Wanda, and brother Royce. Mick is survived by his mother, ex-wife Theresa, son Gabe and wife Angie, daughter Cristina, brother Jim, sister Ginger, and many loved nieces and nephews. Mick is also survived by his most valued treasure, his grandchildren: Royce, Mabel, Louis, Hudson, and Andrew.
A celebration of a life well-lived will be held on August 1st, 2026. Mark your calendars and start polishing up your rides. Details will come available closer to this date.

Micky and I grew up together in Las Cruces, attending Valley View Elementary and Lynn Junior High. We also were in Boy Scouts together. I have a lot of fond memories of Micky and was proud to call him my friend.
