Miguel A. DeLeon

Miguel Alphonso DeLeon, 93, known to many as Sonny, passed away on December 9, 2025, at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. Born in Siparia, Trinidad & Tobago, Sonny immigrated to the United States and has lived in Brookyln, Newark and Jersey City prior to settling in Little Ferry.
Sonny worked as a pipe fitter for many years, then went on to become a Master Plumber for Jersey City State University. Sonny was very talented with his hands; having been able to fix and build anything he wished. He was an award-winning soccer player, a master calligrapher and was an avid Ichthyophile (someone who was very interested in fish).
He was always the life of the party, and his booming laugh filled every room he entered. Anyone who met Sonny absolutely loved him and will be remembered as a wonderful teacher to his workers and as a supportive boss.
Sonny leaves behind his devoted wife Laura Simmons DeLeon, his loving children; Max, Richard and Meegan as well as his sister Rosita Pitt and is also survived by Michael DeLeon.
